- FILIPINO WORKERS FETED FOR HEROISM ABROAD
- President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo led the awarding ceremonies for the modern heroesat the Heroes Hall in Malacañang this afternoon.
- In her speech, The President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo commended the overseas workers for keeping Filipino values alive even while in foreign countries.
- The Bagong Bayani Award in an annual search for the country's outstanding Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) as anew breed of heroes, fostering goodwill amongthe peoples of the world, enhancing the image of the Filipino as a competent and responsible worker greatly contributing to the nation's foreign exchange earnings.
- Among this year's awardees, Christopher P. M. a singer working in Kumamoto City Kumamoto-ken JAPAN.
- responded 2001 April 16 to a desperatecall for help from a 52-year-old Japanese woman trapped in her burning two-story house.
- Christopher climbed the roof to reach the veranda, fell and injured hisarm in the process but was able to rescue from the fire.
